Dr. Justine McMillan

Dr. Justine McMillan (PhD, MSc, BSc) is a physical oceanographer working for Fisheries and Oceans Canada. She specializes in the measurement and modelling of coastal ocean currents, tides and turbulence.

She is currently involved in the development of ocean models that forecast currents and water levels in several Canadian ports to allow for better ship navigation and oil spill prediction. Previously, her work involved training scientists in the measurement of ocean turbulence and conducting research to support instream tidal power development.

Her career as an oceanographer began as an undergraduate physics student at Acadia University where she spent her summers modelling the tides in the Bay of Fundy. She first attended AUPAC in 2003 and is excited to be back!
