Dr. Aldona Wiacek

Dr. Wiacek is cross-appointed in the Departments of Environmental Science as well as Astronomy & Physics at Saint Mary’s University in Halifax. She is interested in remote sensing and field measurements of atmospheric trace gases and aerosols (solid or liquid suspended particles) involved in air pollution and climate change. Her group is also working on comparisons of global atmospheric composition models and satellite measurements in order to improve atmospheric process understanding and representation, and thus inform air quality and climate change mitigation policies.

At SMU, Dr. Wiacek has developed and taught “Climate Change: Evidence and Uncertainty” and “Physical Processes in the Environment”, as well as “Environmental Science: Energy, Resources & Pollution”. Her teaching practice is informed by her Bachelor of Education degree (Secondary Science and Math).
