Overview of computational science. Introduction to UNIX, FORTRAN and
programming. Fundamentals of computer architecture and operation.
Part II - Numerical methods (12 classes)
Functions & roots. Interpolation and approximation. Numerical
integration. Ordinary differential equations. Monte Carlo methods.
Discrete (Fast) Fourier transforms.
Part III - Advanced Topics (4 classes)
Introduction to parallel programming with OpenMP. Simple
data visualization
using
OpenDX.
Part IV - Student Presentations (4 classes)
