Friends & Colleagues

Evan Scannapieco is a good friend and colleague at Arizona State University.

Stéphane Courteau and I co-supervised Kelly Foyle's MSc thesis.

Larry Widrow and I supervised Pascal Elahi's PhD thesis.

Hugh Couchman supervised my PhD thesis along with Don Page.

James Wadsley and I were both postdocs at McMaster.

Former & Current Students

Jun Allard wrote an honours thesis under my supervision while he was an undergraduate at Queen's University. He's now an Assistant Professor at UC Irvine working in computational biology.

Dave Kirsh also wrote an honours thesis under my supervision while he was an undergraduate at Queen's University. He's now a lecturer at Ryerson University.

Kelly Foyle completed her MSc at Queen's under the supervision of Stephane Courteau and myself, and the went on to do a PhD at Heidelberg. She's now working at the Perimeter Institute in Waterloo as an outreach scientist.

Pascal Elahi completed his PhD at Queen's under the supervision of Larry Widrow and myself. He's now working as a research associate with Chris Power at UWA on a number of topics in computational cosmology.

Mark Richardson completed an honour's thesis with me at SMU before going on to do a PhD at Arizona State University. He's now working as a post-doc at the University of Oxford and working on galaxy formation.

David Williamson completed a PhD with me at Saint Mary's. He's now working a post-doc at the University of Southampton and is focused on star formation.

Xavier Talbot-Thiebaux conducted summer student work with me in computational cosmology. He's now studying at California State University.

James Wurster completed a PhD with me at Saint Mary's. He's now working a post-doc at the University of Exeter and is focused on star formation.

Maan Hani completed an honour's thesis and MSc with me at Saint Mary's. He's now working towards a PhD at the University of Victoria, and recently won the prestigious Vanier Fellowship.

Chris MacMackin studied in my group for a summer studentship looking at the evolution of active galactic nuclei in simulations. He's now working towards a PhD at the University of Oxford.

Jenn Beanlands completed an MSc with Scott Chapman as the primary supervisor and myself as co-supervisor at Saint Mary's. She's now working in Florida.

Samantha Pillsworth completed an MSc with me at Saint Mary's looking at accretion on to galaxies in simulation models. She's now working at Affinio.

Ben Thompson is just about finished on a PhD with Brad Gibson as the primary supervisor and myself as co-supervisor. Ben is using his coding skills to transition into a coding career.

Tiffany Fields completed an honour's thesis with me at Saint Mary's and then an MSc. She is now the Observatory Technician and can be seen on TV fairly regular for interviews.

Paresh Mungara completed an MSc thesis with me on chaotic variations in simulations. He's now working in medical imaging.

Fraser Smith is working towards an MSc on ergodicity in star formation in galaxies by constructing simulation catalogues based on Sloan parameters.

Starling Cox is working on an honours thesis project looking at the transfer of energy from dark matter to gas in galaxy clusters.
