Chemistry 4413.2 - Statistical Mechanics and Dynamics

This is a one-semester third or fourth-year chemistry course designed for Honours in chemistry but also taken by majors, and also by physics and math students as an elective. Starting from the results of quantum mechanics, the laws of probability are used to relate the microscopic properties of matter (energy levels) to the macroscopic properties of matter (enthalpy, entropy, free energy). Second-year calculus is a must.
