Atlantic Theoretical Chemistry Symposium - ATCS 2010
Dates: Friday, August 13, 2010 - Sunday, August 15, 2010
Location: Saint Mary's University, Halifax, Nova Scotia.
The Symposium will take place in the lecture theatre of the newly constructed
Atrium . The Atrium is located in the
North part of campus, between the Science building and the Burke building.

Participants: The ATCS typically hosts participants from all over Atlantic Canada.
Prizes for best oral presentations include a one-year
licence to the entire suite of SCM products (Amsterdam Density Functional
(ADF), BAND, COSMO-RS, and the associated GUIs) and a copy of Spartan '08.
Award winners:
1st Place, Graduate: Mr. Felix Kannemann (Dalhousie, supervisor Axel
Becke). Felix wins a one-year licence to ADF, Band, and COSMO-RS. Sponsored by
SCM.
2nd Place, Graduate: Ms. Victoria Walker (Dalhousie U., supervisor Russell
Boyd). Vikki will receive a cheque from sponsor Physical/Theoretical/Computational Division of the Canadian Society for Chemistry.
3rd Place, Graduate: Ms. Mosammat Khan (Memorial U., supervisors Raymond
Poirier and David Thompson). Samata will receive a cheque from sponsor
Physical/Theoretical/Computational Division of the Canadian Society for
Chemistry.
1st Place, Undergraduate: Mr. Carl Haugen (U. New Brunswick, supervisor
Ajit Thakkar). Carl wins a copy of Spartan '08. Sponsored by Wavefunction, Inc.
2nd Place, Undergraduate: Ms. Jean Gillis (Cape Breton U., supervisor Dale
Keefe). Jean will receive a cheque from sponsor Physical/Theoretical/Computational Division of the Canadian Society for Chemistry.
Registration for the 2010 ATCS can be done by e-mailing
cory.pye#at#smu.ca . All participants are expected to give an oral
presentation. There will be no poster session. The following information should
be submitted:
- Abstract of your presentation in MS Word 2003 format, using Times New Roman
12 point font, 200 words maximum. The name of the presenting author should be
underlined, the title in bold, and contact information should be provided.
Please also indicate status, i.e. undergraduate student, graduate student,
post-doctoral fellow, faculty in order to facilitate the awarding of prizes.
- Any special dietary requirements should be noted.
The deadline for abstract submission will be July 19, 2010.
ABSTRACT SUBMISSION IS NOW CLOSED. NO FURTHER CHANGES TO THE
ABSTRACTS WILL BE ALLOWED.
Talks will be 15 minutes in duration, followed by 5 minutes of questions.

Please ensure that your abstract has been faithfully represented (Updated Aug 10).
Fees payment ($50 + HST) is due upon arrival on Friday, Aug
13. Registration will take place at the Gorsebrook at 7:00 PM.
There will be an ACENet Institute of Computational Chemistry business meeting
on Saturday at 5:00 PM after session 2b.
Travel awards are being provided by ACEnet . The details are being worked out, but
most students at institutions outside of Metro Halifax will receive a travel
award, dependent on the distance travelled, to help offset the cost of travel.
