The Burke-Gaffney Observatory, with its Ralph Medjuck CDK24 telescope, is a robot!

It has a flexible and easy-to-use interface that allows observers to obtain astronomical images of objects of their choice in a fully-automatic way! Images taken can also be processed to make them look better and even in colour!

You can interact with it using:

  • Twitter (public tweets or direct messages)
  • Cell phone text messaging
  • Email
  • Communicator App

It also posts its activities to Twitter live.

Observers need to become authorized to use this service, after which you can submit requests to the observatory's observation queue and the telescope will automatically take images for you! In the period soon after the launch of this service, we will be fairly open on who will be authorized. That may tighten up in the future. Priority, however, is given to our students and local usage for educational and research purposes.

For information about how to get authorized see the Getting Started page.
